2012 Kaiju Kards Set 5 by fbwash 2012 Kaiju Kards Set 5 by fbwash
I'm a huge fan of classic kaijus and have decided to start drawing sketch cards celebrating the ToHo monsters that I watched growing up.

Card One - King Kong
Card Two - Mechani-Kong
Card Three - Mogera
Card Four - Orochi

Mogera was Toho's first robot monster I think, wish he'd have played a bigger role in his first film appearance (he's a good alternative to Mecha G)

I'm going to try and draw a few more different Mogera cards in the future :)

This is probably my favorite set so far and it is difficult to really explain why. I guess it is because of of the characters really have a well thought out and executed illustration idea. Text in a piece always kills the atmosphere to me, but you manage to incorporate the names of the kaijus so they do not stand out. They feel like they are a part of the composition and not just slapped on the front of it like some "my name is bob" type of name badge you might see at an AA meeting lol. Great job though man! :)

I really appreciate your comment and your correct in your assessment with the words and layout. Many of the amazing kaijus are not known by folks. So how can tell people about them without making the words battle against the art. The only cards I didn't add the words to was the Frankenstein vs Baragon puzzle card.
